PGIMER Nursing 2021: Admit Card, Date of Exam, Result

The Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh will organize entrance test to select the candidates for admission into its B.Sc Nursing and B.Sc Nursing (Post Basic) courses. The entrance test will be followed by interview and medical exam. It is advised that the candidates ensure their eligibility criteria before applying for the exam. Major Highlights

  • Application form submitted without the application fee will be considered as incomplete and will be rejected.
  • Foreign national candidates are also required to appear in the entrance examination.
  • The B.Sc Nursing candidates will be given Rs. 500/- per month as stipend during four years.
  • Entrance exam will be held at Chandigarh only.
  • Medical fitness is a necessary condition for admission into the nursing courses.
  • Candidates who wish to discontinue the course in between will have to pay a prescribed amount to do so.
  • Facility of hostel is not presently available for the B.Sc Nursing (Post Basic) candidates.

Eligibility Criteria

Check below the detailed eligibility criteria for appearing in the PGIMER Nursing 2021 exam:

For B.Sc Nursing:

  • Only female candidates are eligible for this course.
  • Applicants should have passed class 12th or equivalent exam with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English scoring not less than 50% marks in aggregate.
  • Those appearing in the 12th board exam in the year 2020 can apply too.
  • Age of the candidate should not be more than 25 years and less than 17 years as on 1st September, 2021.

For B.Sc Nursing (Post Basic):

  • A pass in 10+2 or any other equivalent examination from a recognized board is required.
  • The candidates must have passed General Nursing and Midwifery with minimum of 50%aggregate.
  • Registered Nurse and Registered Midwife qualified from a recognized institute and registration with respective State Nursing Council as approved by Indian Nursing Council (INC) or substitute registration in case of male candidates is also required.
  • Age of the candidate should not be more than 45 years as on 1st September, 2021.

Application Form

PGIMER Nursing 2021 application form will be released in online mode hopefully in the month of June 2021. Candidates can obtain the application form by visiting the official website of the institute

  • The candidates will have to provide their personal information like name, parent’s name, date of birth, caste, gender, etc in the form.
  • Educational details such as qualifying exam school, board name, marks scored, year of passing, etc should also be provided into the application form.
  • Applicants must take extreme care not to make any error while filling the application form as this can lead to its rejection.
  • After providing all these details into the application form, the candidates can submit it with prescribed fee.
  • The candidates should take a printout of the application form and keep it safe for future correspondence.

Application fee:

  • The application fees for general/ OBC candidates is Rs. 1000/- and for SC/ ST candidates Rs. 800/- There is no application & examination fee for PWD candidates.
  • The candidates can pay their fee through credit card/ debit card/ net banking.

Application for in-service and foreign candidates

  • In-service candidates should take a printout of the filled application form and route it along with necessary documents through their employer.
  • Foreign candidates should take a printout of the filled application form and route it along with necessary documents through the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, New Delhi.
  • Candidates of foreign nationality should also obtain eligibility certificate from Registrar, PGIMER, Chandigarh & clearance regarding professional qualification from the Indian Nursing Council, New Delhi and submit it along with the application form.

Admit Card

  • The admit card to appear for the entrance test will be released on the official website of the institute.
  • Candidates will be able to download their admit card 2 weeks before the exam by logging into their account using their login id and password.
  • On the admit card, basic details related to candidates such as name, roll number, etc and that to exam such as venue, schedule will be printed.
  • A printout of the admit card must be carried to the exam center on the day of examination.
  • The candidates will be allowed to enter the exam hall only after producing their admit card.

Result & Interview

  • Entrance test result is expected to be announced in the month of August 2021 and can be checked from the official website.
  • Overall rank of all the candidates will be decided based on the percentile scores.
  • An overall merit list of the candidates will be prepared on the basis of marks obtained in the entrance exam. Category-wise merit list will also be drawn by the exam authorities.
  • Qualified candidates will then be invited for the interview round in the order of their merit.
  • Those qualifying both written test and interview will be considered for the admission process.
  • The final result will be displayed on the notice boards of Bhargava Auditorium/ NINE of PGIMER, Chandigarh.

Admission Process

  • Candidates clearing the interview round will have to report to the institute as per the schedule communicated to them via the official website.
  • The candidates will be medically examined by a Medical Board constituted by the Institute.
  • While reporting for admission must carry with them all the important documents for verification.
  • Final admission will be granted to the medically fit candidates after the verification of their documents.
  • Selected candidates should pay the fee on the spot failing which their selection will be treated as cancelled.
