Engineering Entrance Exams 2023-24: National, State and University Level Engineering Exams in India

Engineering Entrance Exams 2023: Engineering is one of the most preferred career choices for many students after passing their class 12th exam. In order to screen the most talented candidates for admission into the different engineering colleges, entrance exams are conducted every year. With the same aim, engineering entrance exams will be conducted at National, State, and University levels.

The students often face the dilemma as to apply for which college or institute to pursue the engineering degree program. With the aim to help such candidates, we have provided a list of some of the top engineering entrance exams along with their basic overview.

Engineering Entrance Exams 2023 Eligibility Criteria

The aspirants who wish to appear for the engineering entrance exams 2023 must fulfill these basic requirements:

  • For UG courses: The candidates must have cleared the class 12th or equivalent exam from a recognized board or university with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (Biology for Biotechnology can also be considered) as compulsory subject.
  • For PG courses: It is necessary to have an undergraduate engineering degree in the relevant stream to be eligible for the postgraduate course.

Note: There can be some specific eligibility criteria for certain institutes or there can be exceptions in the eligibility requirements. To know the exact eligibility criteria, the candidates are advised to visit the official website of the specific institute.

List of Engineering Entrance Exams 2023

National Level Engineering Entrance Exams

JEE (Joint Entrance Examination) Main

Admissions into the NITs, CFTIs, IIITs are provided on the basis of the JEE Main exam. The candidates who qualify this exam can not only apply for admissions in these institutes but also become eligible for appearing in the JEE Advanced exam.

JEE Advanced

JEE Advanced is organized with the aim to select the most suitable candidates for admissions into the prestigious Indian Institutes of Technology. The candidates who clear the JEE Main exam can apply for this exam.

SAAT (Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan University Admission Test)

Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan conducts a national-level engineering entrance exam, SAAT, in order to screen candidates for enrolment in UG and PG degree programmes into the constituent colleges.

APIIT NAT (National Aptitude Test)

The National Aptitude Test (NAT) is conducted by the Asia Pacific Institute of Information Technology for selecting candidates for admissions into engineering courses. it is a national-level exam and its application form is available in the month of October.

State Level Engineering Entrance Exams 2023

AP EAMCET (Engineering, Agriculture and Medicine Common Entrance Test)

The Andhra Pradesh EAMCET is a state-level entrance exam that is organized to provide the qualified applicants admissions into different engineering colleges situated in Andhra Pradesh.

BCECE (Bihar Combined Entrance Competitive Examination)

The admissions in the various engineering colleges situated in Bihar are granted on the basis of BCECE. The exam is conducted in offline mode and the application form for the same can be filled in online mode.

COMEDK (Consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka) UGET

In order to screen the candidates for providing admission in the engineering colleges, the COMEDK conducts UGET. The registration process for this exam begins in the month of January and the exam is held in the May month.

KCET (Karnataka Common Entrance Test)

The KCET is organized by the Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) to grant enrolment to the selected candidates in the engineering degree programmes. The process of the registration starts in the month of February and the exam is held in April.

KEAM (Kerala Engineering Architecture Medical Examination)

KEAM is s state-level entrance exam conducted by the Commissioner of Entrance Examination (CEE), Kerala. The main aim of this exam is to screen candidates for admissions in engineering colleges of Kerala.

MHT CET (Maharashtra Common Entrance Test)

The candidates who wish to pursue engineering from the colleges based in Maharashtra need to clear MHT CET. It is a state-level entrance exam conducted by the Directorate of Technical Education hopefully in the month of May.

OJEE (Odisha Joint Entrance Examination)

The Odisha Government regulates the OJEE to grant admissions to the eligible candidates in the various engineering courses. The candidates can submit their application form from the month of March and the exam is held in May.

TJEE (Tripura Joint Entrance Examination)

TJEE is organized by the Tripura Board of Joint Entrance Examination to offer the qualified candidates admissions in undergraduate engineering programmes. It is a state-level entrance exam and the enrolment is granted only in the colleges of Tripura state.

TNEA (Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions)

Admission in the engineering colleges of Tamil Nadu is provided on the basis of marks obtained in the qualifying exam. The Anna University carries out the TNEA admission process for the purpose of selecting candidates for admissions.

UPSEE (Uttar Pradesh State Entrance Exam)

UPSEE is conducted by Dr. A.P.J Abdul Kalam Technical University, Uttar Pradesh with the purpose to select the most eligible candidates for admissions into engineering courses. The candidates can apply for this exam in online mode from the month of January.

WBJEE (West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination)

To enroll candidates into the engineering colleges situated in West Bengal, the WBJEEB conducts state-level entrance exam, WBJEE. The interested and eligible candidates can apply for this exam from December onwards in online mode.

University Level Engineering Entrance Exams 2023

AEEE (Amrita Engineering Entrance Examination)

The Amrita Engineering Entrance Examination is organized with the aim of screening candidates for enrolment into the B.Tech degree courses offered by the Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham. The eligible candidates wishing to get enrolled in this university can fill their application form.

AMUEEE (Aligarh Muslim University Engineering Entrance Exam)

The candidates are provided admissions into the engineering degree programme offered by the Aligarh Muslim University by clearing its entrance exam, AMUEEE. The candidates can submit their application for this exam which is conducted in the month of May.

ATIT (Admission Test for ICFAI Science and Technology)

To grant enrolment in the engineering degree program offered at different IFCAI campuses, the IFCAI Tech School (ITS) organizes ATIT. The application form for this exam will be provided on the official website and the candidates can submit their application till April.

AUEET (Andhra University Engineering Entrance Test)

The Andhra University organizes the entrance test for offering admissions to the qualified candidates into the engineering degree programme into the constituent colleges. The application form is released in the month of March and the exam is generally held in the month of May.

BITSAT (Birla Institute of Technology and Science Admission Test)

The prestigious Birla Institute of Technology and Science conducts its own university-level entrance test to select candidates for admissions into engineering courses. The interested candidates who meet the eligibility criteria can apply for this exam.

IPU CET (Indraprastha University Common Entrance Test)

The IPU CET (common entrance test) is organized by the Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University organizes to enroll the selected into the engineering courses offered by it. The application form for the entrance test is made available from the month of January on the official website.

KIITEE (Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology Engineering Entrance Exam)

The KIITEE conducts a university-level entrance test known as KIITEE for providing admissions into its engineering degree program. The interested applicants can submit their application form for the exam in online mode.

LPU NEST (National Entrance and Scholarship Test)

The Lovely Professional University organizes entrance exam in order to screen the proficient candidates for providing admission in the engineering courses. The candidates securing 90% or above marks in 10+2 can apply for admission without appearing in the entrance test.

SRMJEEE (SRM Joint Engineering Entrance Exam)

The SRMJEE is a university-level entrance exam conducted in the month of May in online mode. The main purpose of this exam is to select the eligible candidates for admissions into the engineering courses offered by the SRM Institute of Science and Technology.

VITEEE (Vellore Institute of Technology Engineering Entrance Exam)

The Vellore Institute of Technology provides enrolment to the candidates into its engineering degree programme on the basis of VITEEE. The exam is held in the month of November and the candidates aspiring to get admissions in this institute can submit their application online.

VMU EEE (Vinayaka Mission University Engineering Entrance Examination)

The Vinayaka Mission University conducts entrance exam for offering the selected candidates admissions into its engineering courses. The applicants who are interested and satisfy the eligibility can apply for this exam in both online and offline modes.

VSAT (Vignan Scholastic Aptitude Test)

The Vignan Scholastic Aptitude Test is organized by the Vignan University to grant admissions to the interested applicants in the different courses of engineering. The application form for the exam that is conducted in online mode, can be filled in online as well as offline mode.

Engineering Entrance Exams List for PG Courses 2023

GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering)

GATE is one of the most prestigious and toughest entrance exams to screen candidates for admissions into the postgraduate engineering programme (M.Tech) offered by the Indian Institutes of Technology.

VITMEE (VIT Master’s Entrance Exam)

For selecting candidates for enrolment in the masters’ degree programme in the field of engineering, the VIT conducts university-level entrance test. The admissions are offered in the 7 schools of VIT in which the candidates can pursue the PG course of their choice.

AP PGECET (Andhra Pradesh Postgraduate Engineering Common Entrance Test)

With the aim to screen candidates for admission in PG courses in the field of engineering and technology, the Andhra University conducts the AP PGECET. The online application for the exam is released in the month of March and the exam is conducted in the month of May.

TS PGECET (Telangana State Postgraduate Engineering Common Entrance Test)

A state-level entrance exam is conducted for postgraduate admissions in the engineering colleges of Telangana State, known as TS PGECET. The exam is held in online mode and the interested candidates can apply for the same from the month of March.

Karnataka PGCET (Karnataka Post Graduate Common Entrance Test)

The Karnataka PGCET is conducted by KEA (Karnataka Examination Authority) with the aim to select the candidates for admissions in full-time and part-time M.Tech courses. Admissions are offered into the various engineering colleges situated in the state of Karnataka.

SRMGEET (SRM Graduate Engineering Entrance Test)

The SRM University conducts a university-level exam for offering admissions into its M.Tech degree programme. The candidates fulfilling the eligibility requirement can apply for the exam which is held in the month of May (tentatively).
