Candidates seeking admission in engineering programme offered by colleges in the state of Jammu and Kashmir must apply for the JKCET entrance exam. It is mandatory for the candidates to fulfill the necessary JKCET Eligibility criteria 2022 laid down by the authority. An ineligible candidate won’t be allowed to appear in the exam. Therefore, candidates should make sure that they satisfy the eligibility requirements needed for taking the JKCET examination.
Through JKCET entrance exam, candidates can enroll in the B.Tech/B.E program provided by various private and government colleges in J & K. Candidates must go through the JKCET eligibility criteria 2022 to ensure that they fit all the basic requirements needed for appearing in the entrance exam.
JKCET Eligibility Criteria 2022
Candidates wishing to pursue engineering course must apply for JKCET exam by filling its application form. The JKCET application form will be available in online mode only and the candidates can fill the form by visiting the official website of the JKCET. Before proceeding for the application form, candidates need to skim through the eligibility criteria specified by the authority. The eligibility criteria for JKCET exam are as follows-
- Nationality: Only Indian National candidates can apply for JKCET entrance exam.
- Domicile: A candidates must be a permanent resident of Jammu and Kashmir (J & K) state.
- Age criteria: The age of the candidates must not be less than 17 years old as on 31st December 2022. There is no upper age limit specified by the authority.
- Qualifying examination: Candidates should have passed Higher secondary (class 12th) from a recognized board with English, Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as the elective subjects. Those appearing in class 12th can also apply for the JKCET exam.
- Percentage Required: Open merit candidates should have obtained minimum 50% aggregate marks in the qualifying exam. Those belonging to SC/ST categories and other backward classes should have scored at least 40% aggregate marks in the qualifying examination.
Note:
- Open merit candidates also include children of defence personnel, children of Para-military forces, children of state police personnel and candidates possessing outstanding proficiency in sports.
- Candidates appearing in class 12th will have to produce their original marks cards before or at the time of counselling/selection.
- If a candidate is invited for the counselling procedure but failed to secure the required percentage of marks in class 12th then his/her candidature will be cancelled by the authorities.
- The candidates applying under TFW category will be considered as open merit candidates provided they must fulfill eligibility conditions meant for open merit candidates.
