WBJEE Eligibility Criteria: Age, Education, Nationality

WBJEE Eligibility Criteria: Candidates aspiring for seeking admission into various UG courses offered by different colleges in West Bengal need to check their eligibility status before going for the application form. The admission will be done for the courses such as – Engineering & Technology, Pharmacy and Architecture. Only eligible candidates will be able to appear for the exam. Through this article, candidates can check their eligibility status as per the WBJEE Eligibility Criteria laid down by the conducting board (WBJEEB). WBJEE Eligibility Criteria

Nationality: Only Indian Citizens are eligible to appear for the WBJEE exam. No domicile requirements are applicable for appearing WBJEE.

Age Criteria: A candidate must be at least 17 years old as on 31st December 2022. A candidate should have been born on or before 31.12.2004. There is no upper age limit to appear for WBJEE. However, for Marine Engineering, a candidate must not be over 25 years as on 31st December 2021.

General Academic Qualification

For Engineering Course

Qualifying Examination: A candidate must have passed class 10+2 from the central/state government recognized board/university.

Subjects: A candidate must have passed the qualifying examination with Physics and Mathematics along with any one of Chemistry / Biotechnology / Biology / Computer Science / Computer Application as compulsory subjects with individual pass marks (in both theory and practical) in all the three subjects in regular class mode.

Percentage Marks required: A candidate should have scored minimum of 45% marks (40% for reserved category candidates) in the three subjects taken together. The candidate must have passed 10+2 with minimum of 30% marks in English.

For Pharmacy Course

Qualifying Examination: A candidate must have passed class 10+2 from the central/state government recognized board/university.

Subjects: A candidate must have passed the qualifying examination with Physics and Chemistry along with any one of Mathematics / Biotechnology / Biology / Computer Science / Computer Application as compulsory subjects with individual pass marks (in both theory and practical) in all the three subjects in regular class mode.

Percentage Marks required: A candidate should have obtained minimum 45% marks (40% for reserved category candidates) in the above subjects taken together. The candidate must also have passed 10+2 with minimum 30% marks in English.

Note:

  • Candidates appearing in the class 12th may also appear for the exam but they will not be considered for admission in case they fail to fulfill the qualifying examination criteria along with the minimum eligibility criteria as stated above.
  • If in any stage, it is found that a candidate is ineligible then his/her candidature will be cancelled by the authorities.

University of Calcutta

Qualifying Examination: A candidate must have passed class 10+2 from a recognized board/university.

Subjects: Candidates must have passed the qualifying examination with Physics and Mathematics along with any one of Chemistry / Biotechnology / Biology as compulsory subjects.

Percentage Marks required: Candidates should have obtained minimum 60% marks (50% for reserved category candidates) in science group (excluding vernacular 1st language and other language and EVS) with 30% marks in English.

For Jute and Fiber Technology: Must pass ‘10+2’ or equivalent examination from any recognized Council/ Board with Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry/Biotechnology/ Biology as compulsory subjects with at least 60% (50% for Reserve Category) marks in three subjects taken together and with minimum 30% marks in English.

Jadavpur University

Qualifying Examination: Applicants must have passed class 10+2 or its equivalent from a recognized board/university.

Subjects: Candidates must have passed the qualifying examination with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as compulsory subjects.

Percentage Marks required: Candidates must have passed the qualifying exam with minimum 60% marks (50% for reserved category candidates) in three subjects taken together. Candidates must also have obtained minimum 60% marks in Mathematics and 30% marks in English individually.

Note: For Five-year degree course in Architecture, candidates must qualify either NATA or Paper-II of JEE Main.

West Bengal University of Animal and Fishery Sciences B. Tech (Dairy Technology) course

Qualifying Examination: Applicants must have passed class 10+2 or its equivalent from a recognized board/university.

Subjects: Candidates must have passed the qualifying examination with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as compulsory subjects with individual pass marks.

Percentage Marks required: Candidates must have passed the qualifying exam with at least 50% marks (40% for reserved category candidates) in PCM and English taken together.

Neotia University

  1. B.Tech courses in Computer Sc & Engineering and Robotic Engineering

Candidate must have cleared 10+2 or equivalent Examination with Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry/ Computer Sc. as compulsory subjects with minimum 60% marks in the above subjects taken together.

  1. B.Tech courses in other branches

Applicants must have passed class 10+2 or equivalent with PCM as compulsory subjects with at least 60% marks in the above subjects taken together.

  1. B.Tech course in Marine Engineering

Applicants must have passed 10+2 or equivalent with PCM as compulsory subjects with at least 60% marks in the above subjects taken together and minimum 50% marks in English.

Course-specific WBJEE Eligibility Criteria

Degree Course in Marine Engineering

Qualifying Examination: Applicants must qualify class 10+2 or its equivalent from West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education or from a recognized board/university.

Percentage Marks required: Candidates must score minimum 60% marks in PCM and 50% marks in English in class 10th or 12th.

Five-year degree course in Architecture

Qualifying Examination: Must have cleared class 10+2 with Mathematics from a recognized board/university.

Compulsory Entrance Examination: Candidates must qualify NATA or Paper-II of JEE Main.

Percentage Marks required: Candidates must score minimum 50% marks in the qualifying examination with Mathematics at 10+2 level.
