NIFT 2022: Application Form (Released on 3 Dec), Eligibility Criteria, Exam Date

The National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) is the most prestigious Indian institute in Fashion Education. The institute has 16 campuses spread all over India. The courses available in these institutes are B.Des, B.FTech, M.FTech, M.Des, and MFM. The candidates looking for NIFT 2022 admission needs to clear the written exam followed by a situation test, PI and GD as applicable. The written exam will take place in offline mode (Pen and Paper test).

The aspiring candidates need to fill and submit the application form in the online mode. NIFT 2022 application form has been released now.

NIFT 2022 application form is now available from 3rd December 2021.

NIFT 2022 Main Highlights

  • The candidates who are going to appear of the qualifying exam can also apply for NIFT entrance exam. However, such candidates have to show the proof of clearing the exam at the time of admission.
  • While filling the application form, the candidates will be allowed to provide a choice for the exam center.
  • The maximum age for the admission to UG courses is 23 years. There are no criteria of upper age limit for PG courses admission.
  • 15% of the total seats are reserved for foreign nationals and NRIs. Admission to such candidates will be given on the basis of GMAT/ GRE/ SAT scores.

NIFT 2022 Eligibility Criteria

The candidates must check NIFT 2022 eligibility criteria very carefully before submitting the application form.

For undergraduate courses (B.Des/ B.F. Tech)

  • The age of a candidate should not be more than 23 years as on 1st October 2020. 28 years for the candidates from SC/ ST/ PWD categories.
  • The candidate must have passed 10+2 or equivalent exam from a recognized board.
  • The candidates with 3 or 4-years diploma from a recognized institute can also apply.

For postgraduate courses (M.Des/ MFM/ M.F.Tech)

  • There is no upper age limit for admission to postgraduate courses.
  • For M.Des and MFM courses, the candidate must possess a bachelor degree in any discipline or a 3-year diploma from NID/ NIFT.
  • For M.F.Tech, the candidate must have a B.Tech/ B.E degree from any recognized institute or B.F.Tech degree from the NIFT.

NIFT 2022 Application form

  • NIFT application form 2022 is available only in online mode through the official website i.e. http://www.nift.ac.in/
  • In order to apply, the candidates have to fill and submit the application form along with the prescribed fee before the last date.
  • In the application form, the candidates have to provide all the necessary academic, personal as well as contact details.
  • In addition to the correct details, the candidates also have to upload the images of their passport size photograph and signature.
  • After verifying the details and uploading the images, the candidates may submit the application form.
  • The authorities will also provide the correction window to fix any mistake in the application form.
  • Please note that no correction is possible after the closure of the correction window.
  • The candidate should take a print out of the submitted application form for future requirement.

Application Fee

  • The application fee for the NIFT 2022 entrance exam is Rs. 2000/- (Rs. 1000/- for the candidates from SC/ ST/ PWD candidates)
  • The candidates can pay the application fee online with a credit/ debit card or internet banking.
  • Interested candidates can also pay the application fee via Demand Draft. The DD should be drawn in favour of “NIFT HO” payable at New Delhi.
  • To pay the application fee via DD, the candidates have to submit the demand draft along with the print out of the application form to the following address.

NIFT 2022 Admission Procedure

The admission procedure of the NIFT depends upon the courses that the candidate is opting for. The authorities will conduct different tests for various courses:

Bachelor of Design (B.Des)

  • Creative Ability Test (CAT) – 50% weightage
  • General Ability Test (GAT) – 20% weightage
  • Situation Test – 20% weightage

Master of Design (M.Des)

  • Creative Ability Test (CAT) – 40% weightage
  • General Ability Test (GAT) – 30% weightage
  • Group Discussion (GD)/ Personal Interview (PI) – 30% weightage

Bachelor of Fashion Technology (B.F.Tech)

  • General Ability Test (GAT) – 100% weightage

Master of Fashion Technology (M.F.Tech)

  • General Ability Test (GAT) – 70% weightage
  • Group Discussion (GD)/ Personal Interview: 30% weightage

Master of Fashion Management (MFM)

  • General Ability Test (GAT) – 70% weightage
  • Group Discussion (GD)/ Personal Interview: 30% weightage

NIFT 2022 Exam Pattern

The exam pattern is different for all the tests that the institute will conduct. The pattern for different tests is as follows:

General Ability Test (GAT) – written exam

Creative Ability Test (CAT)

  • The creative Ability Test is a practical exam to test the candidate’s concept development and design ability.
  • In addition to this, the candidate’s ability to use colors and illustrations in a creative and innovative manner will also be judged in this test.

Situation Test (For B.Des candidates only)

  • This test will be conducted only for those B.Des aspirants who will clear the written test.
  • Through this test, the authorities will determine the material handling and innovative ability of the candidate.

Group Discussion

  • The candidates have to take part in the 15 to 20 minutes group discussion for admission to all the PG courses.
  • In the group discussion, the candidate will be judged on the following parameters.
    • Knowledge of the topic assigned
    • Conceptual clarity
    • Interpersonal skills
    • Contribution made to the topic
    • Effective communication
    • Leadership qualities
    • Problem solving approach
    • Ability to generate new ideas

Personal Interview (For all PG Courses)

In the personal Interview, the panel will judge the candidates on the parameters given below:

  • Aptness for the course
  • Career orientation
  • Overall personal achievements in academics and co-curricular activities
  • General awareness and aptitude, creative and lateral thinking
  • Communication

NIFT 2022 Syllabus

The subject-wise syllabus of the written exam is as follows:

  1. Quantitative Ability: Addition, Division, Multiplication, Percentage, Fractions, Rate of Interest, Work and Task, Ratio and Proportion, and Distance
  2. Communication Ability and English Comprehension: Synonyms, antonyms, one word substitutes, idioms and phrases, words with corresponding meanings, correct spellings etc.
  3. Analytical Ability and Logical Ability: The questions will be designed to check the candidate’s problem solving and reasoning application ability.
  4. General Knowledge and Current Affairs: The questions will be asked various miscellaneous topics of General knowledge and current affairs
  5. Case Study: This section is for testing the candidate’s managerial ability. The situation-based questions will be asked on the basis of the industry environment.

NIFT 2022 Admit Card 

  • The authorities will publish the admit card of the candidates online through the official website.
  • The candidates who will submit the application form successfully along with the application fee will be able to download the admit card.
  • Please note that NIFT will not send the admit card by post.
  • The details about the examination center and schedule of the exam will be mentioned on the admit card.
  • No candidates will be allowed to give the exam without having a valid admit card.

NIFT 2022 Result

  • The NIFT will announce the result of the written test on its official website.
  • After clearing the written test, NIFT will call the successful candidates to participate in the next round of admission process like situation test, GD/ PI etc.
  • The authorities will release the final result after completing all the rounds of NIFT Admission 2022 process.

NIFT 2022 Counselling

  • The schedule and mode of counselling for the successful candidates will be available on the official website after the declaration of result.
  • Through the counselling process, the final seat allotment of NIFT 2022 admission will be done.
  • The candidates need to carry the following documents at the time of counselling.
    • Class 12th/ Degree mark sheet and certificate
    • Bank Draft of course fee ( to be drawn in favour of “NIFT HO”)
    • Date of Birth proof (secondary school certificate and mark sheet)
    • SC/ ST / OBC certificate (if applicable)
    • Basis of funding the tuition fee (Parent income proof etc.)
    • Certificate of Medical Fitness
    • Affidavit (Only if the result of the qualifying exam is not declared)
