NEET Eligibility Criteria 2021: Age Limit, Attempt Criteria, Educational Qualification

NEET Eligibility Criteria 2021: All the MBBS and BDS aspirants can verify their eligibility for NEET simply by going through the information provided below. The National Testing Agency will conduct the NEET exam 2021 in May 2021. The eligibility criteria include details associated with age, educational qualification, attempt, citizenship etc. There are certain upper age criteria introduced by CBSE for appearing in NEET exam but it has been being removed from the last two years. The upper age limit has been introduced in NEET exam. If a candidate has studied Biology as an additional subject, not as a core subject in both class 11th & 12th, then he/she is not allowed to appear in the exam.

Apart from this, the number of attempts for appearing in NEET exam was removed last year. We will confirm you for the same rule after the release of its respective notification. Please read the information given below in the post and confirm your eligibility for the exam.

Nationality

An Indian citizen is eligible to apply for the exam. However, the candidates who are NRIs (Non-Resident Indians), PIOs (Persons of Indian Origin), OCIs (Overseas Citizen of India) and Foreign Nationals are permitted to apply for the exam. Aadhaar card is an essential document; a candidate should have in order to apply for NEET exam.

Age Criteria (Upper Age Introduced)

The age criteria for appearing in NEET exam is as follows:

  • A candidate, who is born on or between 05.05.1996 and 31.12.2004, is eligible to apply for the exam under the unreserved category.
  • A candidate, who is born on or between 05.05.1991 and 31.12.2004, is eligible to apply for the exam under SC/ST/OBC/PwD category.

Types of permissible IDs

All Indian Candidates Aadhaar Enrolment Number (EID) or Registration Number given by Facilitation Centre, Aadhaar Number
Indian Nationals who are from Meghalaya, Assam or Jammu & Kashmir Aadhaar Enrolment Number, Aadhaar Number, Registration Number issued by Facilitation Centre, Bank Account Number, Ration Card Number, Passport Number or Other ID card number issued by Government.
NRIs Passport Number, Aadhaar Number
Candidates of Foreigners/OCI/PIO category Passport Number

Minimum Educational Qualification

Candidates, who have cleared the senior/higher secondary exam or its equivalent ICSE exam after completion of 12 years of study, are eligible to apply. Those have passed the qualifying exam with Chemistry, Physics, Biology/Biotechnology & English are eligible to apply for the exam.

Candidates of the general category are required to score minimum 50% marks taken together in Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Biotechnology in the qualifying exam, whereas, this criterion is 40% OBC/SC/ST/ SC-PH/ST-PH/OBC-PH) and 45% for GEN-PH category candidates. Those are appearing in the qualifying exam can apply for the exam.
