KCET 2022: Application Form (From 18 Apr), Exam Date (Out), Eligibility Criteria

The Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) is the organizing body of the KCET 2022 through which candidates can get admission in different programs like medical, dental, engineering, technology, agriculture etc offered by institutions across the state. Interested candidates need to apply for the entrance test as per the eligibility criteria defined by the authority.

Admission in medical, pharmacy and architecture will depend on the NEET score and NATA score secured by the candidates. For remaining courses, admission will depend on the marks scored by candidates in the KCET 2022 examination. Therefore, it is necessary for the aspirants to secure good marks in the exam. KCET 2022 application form will be released on 12th April 2022, the entrance exam will be conducted on 16th to 18th June 2022.

Eligibility Criteria for KCET 2022

The eligibility criteria for KCET exam is as follows-

Age Criteria: For Medical/ Dental/Ayush courses, candidate’s age must not be less than 17 years old as on 31st December 2021.

Program Qualifying Examination Percentage Required
B.Tech Applicants should have passed class 12th or its equivalent from a recognized board with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects and Chemistry / Bio‐Technology / Biology / Electronics /Computer Science as optional subjects and English as one of the study languages. Minimum 45% marks (40% marks for reserved category candidates) are required
Ayush Applicants should have passed class 12th or its equivalent with PCB subject group and English as one of the study languages. Minimum 50% marks (40% marks for reserved category candidates)are required
B.Arch Applicants should have passed class 12th with Mathematics as a compulsory subject from a recognized board/university Minimum 50% marks (40% marks for reserved category candidates)are required

KCET 2022 Application Form

The application form for KCET is available online. Candidates first need to register for the exam by providing their basic details like name, phone number and email id. After successful registration, they can move ahead for the form filling part. Applicants must carefully enter their details in the form as once the form is submitted; they won’t get the opportunity to rectify their mistakes. Candidates will also be asked to upload the scanned photograph and signature in a proper format while filling the online application form. It is compulsory for the applicant to pay the required amount of application fee without which their application will be considered invalid and rejected.

Application Fee

Applicants belonging to the General and OBC Category must pay Rs. 650/- as the application fee. Whereas, those belonging to the SC/ST category need to pay Rs. 500/-. Candidates belonging from the state other than Karnataka must pay Rs. 750/- as the application fee. The stated fee can be paid using the credit card/net banking/debit card or E-Challan.

Syllabus

To crack the KCET 20202 exam, candidates should prepare as per the curriculum prescribed for the 1st year PUC and 2nd year PUC. Here are some of the key topics they need to prepare according to the syllabus of KCET:

Physics: Electrostatics, Modern physics, Ray Optics, Wave Optics, Heat and thermodynamics, Current electricity, Electromagnetic induction, Solids and semiconductor devices, Physics of nucleus, Wave motion, Alternating current, Heat and chemical effects, Electromagnetic waves, Fluids etc.

Chemistry: Carboxylic acids and its derivatives, Aldehydes, Ketones, Alcohol, phenol, Alkanes, alkenes, and alkynes , Chemical equilibrium, Biomolecules, Principles and processes of extraction,  Redox reaction, General organic chemistry, Ionic equilibrium, Chemical kinetics , Chemical bonding, Periodic classification of elements, P-block elements, Co-ordination compound, Transition elements, Surface chemistry, etc.

Mathematics: Sets, relation, and functions, Probability, Vectors, 3-D geometry,  Matrices determinants, Limits, Indefinite integration, Complex numbers, Definite integration, Theory of equation, Permutation and combination, Binomial theorem, Continuity and differentiation, Sequence and series, Trigonometric ratio, etc.

Preparation Tips for KCET 2022

Candidates should aim to fetch good marks in the exam as their admission will be based on the KCET score. Here are some tips through which they can excel in the exam-

  1. Go through the complete syllabus before starting the exam preparation.
  2. Prepare a realistic timetable that can be followed easily.
  3. Keep a separate notebook to write short notes for quick revision.
  4. Solve previous year papers to analyze your performance and improve it altogether.
  5. Don’t get distracted by the mobile phones, TV, relatives etc.
  6. Freshen up your mind by spending time on activities you like for e.g. Reading novel, walking, meditation, playing etc.
  7. Practice mathematics every day.
  8. Devote at least 5-6 hours daily in studies as per your learning capacity.

KCET 2022 Admit Card

The admit card for KCET entrance exam will be available online on the official website of the KEA. Candidates should download the admit card from the same and take the printout of if for further use. It is mandatory for the aspirants to bring the hall ticket at the exam center on the day of the exam. No candidate will be given the entry if he/she does not possess the admit card. The admit card should be kept safe till the admission is over.

KCET 2022 Result and Counselling

Candidates can check the KCET 2022 result from the official website. They need to login into the website using their registration ID and date of birth to see their result. The authority will also publish the merit list based on the performance of the candidates in the exam. Those who are selected as per the merit list will be called for the counselling process where a seat will be allotted to them based on their merit rank, preference given for the course and branch and the number of seats available for that course. Applicants then need to report to the allotted college to finish the admission related paper-work.
