JEE Main Eligibility Criteria 2019

The JEE Main Eligibility Criteria 2019 has been defined by the conducting authorities. The exam authorities i.e. the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is responsible for laying down the Eligibility Criteria of JEE Main exam. The eligibility criteria are nothing but a set of certain rules and conditions which are put forward by the exam authorities for the aspirants.

Eligibility Criteria: What’s the significance?

The Eligibility Criteria of JEE MAIN are quite an important set of conditions which cannot be neglected in any case. Without the candidates putting up to these rules and requirements, he/she is considered as ineligible for the exam, in other words, unfit for the exam.

It must be noted by the candidates that if at any stage of the selection process, it is indicated that the candidate does not satisfy the JEE Main Eligibility Criteria, then their candidature shall stand cancelled without prior notice.

Therefore, the candidates are advised that they should check with the eligibility conditions beforehand to avoid any such kind of situation. They should apply for the exam if and only if they are eligible according to these conditions.

Eligibility Criteria – Conditions

The Eligibility Criteria of JEE Main 2019 exam has been given below. Candidates must go through these and determine whether they satisfy these conditions or not before applying for JEE main.

  • Candidates who have passed the 12th class qualifying examination in the year 2017 or 2018 or those shall be appearing for the qualifying exams in 2019 shall be eligible for the exam.
  • Candidates must have taken total 5 subjects in the 12th class qualifying exams.
  • Candidates born on or after the date 1 October 1994 are eligible for the exam. However, for the candidates belonging to the SC/ST/PWD categories, a relaxation of 5 years has been provided in the age limit.
  • The maximum number of attempts a candidate can make to take the JEE MAIN is limited to 3 only.
