JEE Main 2022: Application Form (Released), Eligibility Criteria, Exam Date (Revised)

JEE Main 2022 will be conducted only two times and the application form for second session has been released on 1st June 2022. Joint Entrance Examination (Main) is one of the popular engineering entrance examinations in the country. From the year 2019, the National Testing Agency will organize this entrance examination for offering admission to Undergraduate Engineering Programmes like B.Tech/ B.E & B.Arch in IIITs, NITs, other Centrally Funded Technical Institutions and Institutions funded by participating State Government etc. The JEE Main will also be an eligibility test for the JEE (Advanced), which the applicants have to appear if they are seeking for admission to the UG courses offered by the ISM/ IITs.

Aspirants, who want to appear in JEE Main 2022, are requested to download the information brochure from the official website of conducting body and read it carefully before applying. The complete details about JEE Main 2022 are provided below on this page.

Changes Introduced in JEE Main

  • There shall be no weightage given to class 12th marks while preparing JEE Main merit.
  • Candidates, who are keen to find admission in the IITs/NITs/IIITs and such other CFTIs whose admissions are based upon JEE (Advanced)/JEE(Main) marks, they must have scored minimum 75% in class 12th exam, or be in the top 20 percentile in class 12th exam organized by the respective boards. SC/ST category candidates have to score minimum 65% marks in the class 12th exam.
  • The State of Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Nagaland, Odisha, Uttarakhand and some other institutions joined JEE Main examination system last year. However, their admission criteria will be intimated by the concerned authorities only.
  • Because there will be no weightage of class 12th marks in preparing JEE Main rank list. Hence, the exam conducting authority will not verify your class 12th roll number. However, you have to produce your class 12th mark sheet with 75% marks during counselling/admission in IITs/NITs/IIITs and other CFTIs.
  • If a student couldn’t perform well in the first attempt then he/she won’t have to waste one full year. He/she can appear in JEE Main II in the same year.
  • 2,697 practice centers have been set up by NTA for JEE Main.
  • The best of the two NTA JEE Main scores will be considered for preparing the JEE Main Merit List/Ranking.
  • NTA to start free teaching centres for students from the next year.

Eligibility criteria

Aspiring candidates willing to apply for JEE Main 2022 are requested to read the information booklet carefully and ensure their eligibility as per the prescribed criteria laid down for JEE (Main). The eligibility criteria for JEE Main 2022 are as follows:

Educational criteria

  • Qualifying examination: Candidates should have passed the 12th examination or its equivalent examination with at least five subjects i.e. Physics, Language, Mathematics as mandatory subjects and anyone from the Biotechnology, Biology, Chemistry, Technical Vocational Subject and any other subject in order to be eligible for JEE Main 2022.
  • Diploma holders are permitted to get admission into IITs only. They have to appear in JEE Advanced.
  • Admission to IITs, NITs, CFTIs will be strictly based on All India Rank subject to the condition that applicant must have obtained at least 75% (65% in case of SC/ST) marks in the 12th examination or be in top twenty percentile in the 12th examination organized by the respective boards.
  • Candidates who have either passed or appearing class 12th from NIOS should select the State of Eligibility according to the state where the study center is situated.

Age Criteria

Candidates, who are born on or after 1st October 1997, will be eligible to appear in JEE Main 2022. However, 5 years upper age relaxation will be provided to candidates belonging to SC/ST & PWD category.

Note: Date of Birth as recorded in 10th or secondary education board certificate will only be considered.

Number of Attempts:

Only 3 attempts will be given for qualifying the JEE Main.

JEE Main 2022 Application forms: How to apply?

Interested and eligible candidates have to apply online only through official website of JEE (Main) i.e. www.jeemain.nic.in. Candidates are advised to read the information booklet carefully before starting the online application process. It is notified that the online application procedure will be commenced from 8th February 2019 onwards. The important information related to JEE Main application form 2022 are given below:

  • Aadhaar is a compulsory document to apply for JEE Main. Please keep your aadhaar number, email ID, mobile number, class 10th and 12th certificate, Scanned photograph and scanned signature of yours and your’ parent/guardian handy before you apply. 
  • Aspirants have to visit the official website to fill JEE Main application form.
  • It should be noted that no other printed or offline mode will be entertained to apply for JEE Main.
  • Applicants should possess Aadhaar Enrollment Number/ Aadhaar Number/Registration Number provided by facilitation center to apply for JEE main 2022.
  • Candidates have to provide all the required details while filling up the online application form.
  • Upload the scanned images of photograph and signature in the prescribed manner.
  • On the successful submission of details, an Acknowledgement Page with Application Number will be generated. Take the print of the same and keep it safe for future reference.

Application Fee

For the successful submission of JEE Main 2022 application form, candidates have to pay a certain amount as necessary application fee. The fee can be paid either through credit card/debit card or e-challan. JEE Main 2022 Application fee may differ from category to category. Application Form Correction

Candidates can make corrections in the particulars of the application form according to the scheduled provided by NTA. The JEE Main form correction facility will not available after this date. The correction can be made in online mode through the official website of NTA.

JEE Main 2022 Exam pattern

Having good knowledge on examination pattern such as the number of questions, marking scheme, subjects covered, will help you in the better preparation of the JEE Main exam. There will be two different papers organized for JEE Main 2019 i.e. paper 1 & paper 2. In which paper 1 will be organized for B.Tech/B.E admission and paper -2 will conduct for B.Arch / B.Planning courses. Instructions to Follow While Preparing for JEE Main 2022

JEE Main 2022 Admit Card

Candidates who have filled & submitted their online application form and made the payment of examination fee before the given deadline they are allowed to obtain their admit card. The exam conducting authority will upload the admit card of candidates as per schedule.

CBSE do neither verify the details of candidates as filled in the application nor verify any certificate on behalf of category/educational qualification to decide the eligibility of a candidate. Only the concerned institution will verify your details and certificates.

Therefore, candidates must confirm their eligibility and provide only genuine information in the form.

The authority also offers JEE Main slot booking facility for the test practice.

Do not forget to check your admit card for your name, date of birth, paper, test center name, gender, city, category and state code of eligibility. If you find any discrepancy then you must intimate the concerned authority for required corrections.

Candidates have to show their respective admit card in the examination room or hall. A candidate, who fails to produce his/her admit card, he/she won’t be permitted to appear in the test.

JEE Main FAQs

Ques: Will you please elaborate the eligibility for diploma candidates in JEE Main 2022?

Ans: You can apply for JEE Main 2022 if you are willing to appear in JEE Advanced. However, in this case your rank and NTA score for JEE Main will not be announced as diploma holders are not permitted to apply for admission to NITs and CFTIs through JEE Main.

Ques: Is there any sort of changes made in JEE Main syllabus?

Ans: No, there is no changes introduced by NTA in JEE main syllabus.

Ques: Will the JEE Main tougher in 2022 due to the involvement of National Testing Agency?

Ans: No, you don’t need to worry about that as the pattern and syllabus for JEE Main remain same.

Ques: Is it compulsory to take JEE Main twice a year? If I appeared in both the exams then which score will be considered towards admission?

Ans: No, it’s not compulsory to take JEE Main both the times. It is just an option suppose you want to improve your score. Candidates, who attempted both the test for the current academic session then best of the two scores, will be considered further for admission and eligibility for JEE Advanced.

Ques: Is there any changes introduced in JoSSA counselling process?

Ans: No, there are no changes introduced in JoSSA counselling process.

JEE Main 2022 Answer Key

After the completion of JEE main 2022, NTA will release the answer keys and recorded reponses of multiple choices questions of Paper 1 and paper 2 at the official website of JEE Main i.e. www.jeemain.nic.in. NTA will also release the date of releasing answer key at the same website.

If you are not satisfied with the recorded response then you may put challenge by filling the online application form and paying process fee of Rs.1000/- per question. Please remember, challenges against the answer key will be accepted in online mode only after paying the processing fee. You can pay the fee using debit card/credit card. The fee is non-refundable in nature.

JEE Main cutoff 2022

The category wise cutoff for JEE Main will be published online. Cutoff is just a minimum marks you have to achieve to clear the JEE Main exam. You may have a look on last year’s cutoff as mentioned below:

  • ST: 24
  • SC: 29
  • OBC (NCL): 45
  • General: 74

JEE Main 2022 Result

The result of JEE Main 2022 has been displayed at the official website of NTA by April 2022. After the publication of result, NTA will hand over the data to CENTRALISED SEAT ALLOCATION BOARD (CSAB)/JoSAA or the concerned State government/institute for the seat allocation and admission process.

As the result is declared by taking care of final answer key, hence no grievance with regard to answer key(s) will be entertained post publication of the result.

JEE Main Counselling 2022

After the declaration of JEE Main result, you can have an idea about the counselling schedule. However, it is highly possible that the counselling process will be conducted in June 2019. JoSAA and CSAB will organize the counselling in different rounds. NTA has not introduced any sort of changes in JoSAA counselling process.

    1. Candidates with 75% or more marks in class 12th exam are eligible to give JEE Advanced after clearing the JEE Main exam.

    1. You can apply for the exam but you won’t be able to get admitted into NITs, IIITs and CFTIs participating through SEAT ALLOCATION BOARD.
