JEE Advanced Exam Pattern 2022: Marking Scheme, No. of Questions

The exam pattern of an exam tells about the internal structure of the question paper. It tells about the basic details of the exam such as the type of questions asked, the marking scheme followed etc. However, it is said that the exam pattern for the JEE Advanced may change. The authorities may start a subjective exam for the advanced exam from the year 2022-2023. The decision is still pending and will be known soon. Any updates on the exam pattern made shall be notified here.

  • Total 2 papers will be put up for the JEE Advanced and both are compulsory.
  • The questions asked will be objective type questions and numerical type questions only.
  • The questions will be asked from the core subjects i.e. Physics, Chemistry, and Maths.
  • The exam paper is available in 2 languages i.e. English and Hindi.

Paper-1

  • The Paper-1 will be of 264 marks.
  • The subjects will be PCM with 3 sections under all 3 subjects.
  • PHYSICS: Section-1 (8 Questions), Section-2 (10 Questions), Section-3 (2 Questions)
  • CHEMISTRY: Section-1 (8 Questions), Section-2 (10 Questions), Section-3 (2 Questions)
  • MATHS: Section-1 (8 Questions), Section-2 (10 Questions), Section-3 (2 Questions)
  • For Section-1, each question shall carry 4 marks and no negative marking has been induced.
  • For Section -2, each question shall carry 4 marks and negative marking is applicable where 2 marks will be deducted for every wrong answer.
  • For Section-3, each question will be of 2 marks and negative marking is applicable where 1 mark will be subtracted for every wrong answer.

Paper-2

  • The Paper-2 will be of 240 marks.
  • The subjects will be PCM with 3 sections under all 3 subjects.
  • PHYSICS: Section-1 (8 Questions), Section-2 (8 Questions), Section-3 (2 Questions)
  • CHEMISTRY: Section-1 (8 Questions), Section-2 (8 Questions), Section-3 (2 Questions)
  • MATHS: Section-1 (8 Questions), Section-2 (8 Questions), Section-3 (2 Questions)
