IIT JAM Exam Pattern 2022 – Highlights

Applicants are recommended to skim through the important features of the exam pattern as stated below-

  • The exam will be conducted in seven (7) subjects, but students will only need to appear for either one or two test papers from the seven subjects.
  • Subjects: Applicant can choose one or two subjects from the list given below –

  • Exam Type: Computer Based Test (CBT)
  • Duration of the Exam: The duration of the exam is of Three (3) Hours
  • Medium: English Medium only.
  • Total Questions: There will be 60 questions asked in the test.
  • Total Marks: The paper will carry overall 100 marks.
  • Marking Scheme:

For section A-

1/3rd marks will be deducted for each wrong answer of question carrying 1 mark.

2/3rd marks will be deducted for the wrong response of questions carrying 2 marks.

However, there will be no negative/partial marking for section B and section C respectively.

Note:

  • There will be a provision of using an online virtual calculator. Hence, candidates need not bring the calculator with them in the examination hall.
  • Applicants will be provided a scribble pad for rough work.
  • Use of any electronic gadget or stationery items (except pen/pencil) such as Mobile phone, pager, notebook, notes, charts, etc is prohibited in the exam.
