HPCET 2023: Application form, Exam Date, Eligibility Criteria

The Himachal Pradesh Technical University (HTU) will conduct common entrance test HPCET for admission into engineering, management, pharmacy and computer application courses. Admission will be granted into the institutes located within the state. The application will be released only through online mode and those who submit it on time will be allowed to appear for the offline exam. Application form for HPCET 2023 will release in March 2023 and the exam will be held in the month of May 2023.

HPCET 2023

  1. The choice of course in which the candidates wish to take admissions should be clearly mentioned into the application form.
  2. Candidates appearing in their qualifying exam in the year 2023 are eligible to apply for the entrance test.
  3. Exam center at which the candidates will have to appear to write their exam will be mentioned in the admit card.
  4. Incomplete application or those submitted after last date will be rejected and no communication will be given.
  5. Counseling of the shortlisted candidates will be done strictly on the basis of their merit in the HPCET.

HPCET Eligibility Criteria 2023

Check below the course-wise eligibility criteria for HPCET 2023:

Undergraduate courses:

  • B.Tech: The candidates must have passed (or appearing) their class 12th or equivalent exam from a recognized board with Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry/ Biotechnology/ Biology/ Technical Vocational subjects securing at least 45% marks (40% for reserved category candidates) in their aggregate.
  • B.Pharma: Those who have passed their class 12th exam or its equivalent with Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry/ Biotechnology/ Biology/ Technical Vocational subjects and at least 45% marks (40% for reserved category candidates) in aggregate of these subjects are eligible. Appearing candidates can also apply. Minimum age of the candidates should be 17 years as on 31st December 2023.
  • B.Pharma (Ayurveda): Applicants need to clear their 10+2 or equivalent exam with Physics, Chemistry and Biology and obtain a minimum aggregate of 45% marks (40% for reserved category candidates) in these subjects.

Postgraduate courses:

  • M.Tech: A pass in BE/ B.Tech in respective field from a recognized university scoring no less than 50% marks in aggregate (45% for reserved category candidates) is required.
  • M.Pharma: Candidates with a bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy or equivalent from a recognized university with at least 50% marks (45% for reserved category candidates) in aggregate are eligible.
  • MBA: Those who hold a bachelor’s degree in any stream from a recognized university with a minimum of 50% marks (45% for reserved category candidates) in aggregate can apply.
  • MCA: The applicants should have a bachelor’s degree in any stream from a recognized university obtaining not less than 50% marks (45% for reserved category candidates) in aggregate. Mathematics as a subject at 10+2 level is also mandatory.

HPCET 2023 Application Form

  • The online application form for HPCET 2023 will be released on the official website www.himtu.ac.in in the month of March 2023.
  • To fill the application form, the candidates need to provide their basic personal and educational details.
  • Candidates will also be required to upload their photograph and signature in scanned format in the application form.
  • Application form complete in every manner can be submitted online along with the required application fee.
  • The application fee payment can be done online using net banking, debit card or credit card or offline using PNB Challan.
  • In case of fee submission through Challan, the payment details should be entered into the application form.
  • After final form submission, the candidates should take a printout and keep it safe for future reference.

Application fee:

  • For B.Tech, B.Pharma, B.Pharma (Ayurveda), MBA, MCA, M.Tech and M.Pharma: Rs. 1550/- for general candidates and Rs. 1400/- for SC/ ST/ BPL candidates
  • For B.Pharma & B.Pharma (Ayurveda) both or B.Tech & B.Pharma both: Rs. 3100/- for general candidates and Rs. 2800/- for SC/ ST/ BPL candidates

HPCET 2023 Exam Pattern

  • Exam mode: Offline

  • Type of questions: Objective type
  • Marking scheme: 2 marks will be awarded for each right answer.
  • Negative marking: 0.25 marks will be deducted for each wrong answer.

    • For B.Tech, B.Pharma, M.Tech and M.Pharma: 3 hours
    • For MBA and MCA: 2 hours

    • For B.Tech and B.Pharma: 150
    • For rest others: 100

HPCET Admit Card 2023

  • The admit card for appearing in HPCET 2023 is expected to release around one week before the exam.
  • Candidates can download the admit card from the official website www.himtu.ac.in using their application number.
  • After downloading, the candidates should take a printout of the admit card and carry it to the exam center.
  • Only those candidates who hold a valid admit card will be allowed to appear for the exam.
  • Admit card must be preserved by the candidates until the complete process of admission is over.

HPCET 2023 Answer Key

  • The answer key of HPCET will be made available on the official website of the University.
  • Candidates with any query regarding the answer key can forward their written complaints along with supporting documents either in person or through email.
  • The complaint should reach the office of Controller of Examinations, H.P. Technical University, Gandhi Chowk, Hamirpur (H.P.) 177 001 within two days of exam.
  • No complaint of any kind shall be entertained after the due date and time is over.

HPCET 2023 Result

  • The result of HPCET will be uploaded on the official website of the university and also on the university’s notice board.
  • Candidates can download the result card from the website that will be required at the time of counseling.
  • A merit list of the qualified candidates will be prepared based on their marks in the entrance test.
  • Separate merit lists will be drawn for admission into different courses.

HPCET 2023 FAQs

What items can I carry inside the examination hall?

Only the following items are allowed inside the exam hall- Clip board, blue/ black ball point pen, geometry box, admit card and identity proof.

My account is debited for application fee but the confirmation page is not displayed. What should I do know?

You can send the payment detail such as form number, amount of payment made, transaction number and date on email id doshptu@gmail.com. In the meantime, make application fee payment again. The earlier debited amount will be reversed later.

How will the university send me my HPCET admit card?

The admit card will be released on the official website of the university. No admit card will be sent to them via post, mail, courier or any other means.

Can I apply for more than one course for appearing in HPCET?

Yes. You can apply for B.Tech and B.Pharma (Allopathy) or for B.Pharma (Ayurveda) and B.Pharma (Allopathy) through a single application form.

Can the candidates not belonging to the state of Himachal can apply?

Yes. The candidates from all over the country can apply. But the reservation rules will only be applicable for the Himachal Pradesh domicile candidates.
