Is Aadhaar Card Necessary For JEE Main? Detailed clarification and FAQ’s

The JEE Main is the most renowned and popular engineering entrance exam of India. Lakhs of candidates aspiring to become an engineer or architect are going to appear for this exam next year. As the exam conducting authority for this exam has been recently changed from CBSE to NTA. There are a lot of confusions among the aspirants regarding this exam. One such confusion is regarding the necessity of Aadhaar Card.

The candidate should be aware that the Aadhar number is compulsory in order to apply for JEE Main. In this post, we will sort out all the confusion regarding the Aadhar card requirement for JEE Main.

Aadhaar Card Requirement for JEE Main Exam 2021

The application form for JEE Main (January session) will be released in the first week of September 2020. It has been observed that many aspirants are still confused about the Aadhaar details. The following points will sort out all the confusions.

1. As per the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India, the Aadhar details are mandatory for JEE Main registration.
2. The details entered by the candidates in the application form will be verified with the UIDAI Data.
3. If the details don’t match then you will not be able to apply for the JEE Main exam.
4. In case of any mismatch, the candidate should get his/her Aadhar data or school records updated.
5. If any candidate doesn’t have Aadhar card then they should enroll themselves for Aadhar immediately.

Not received Aadhaar Number Yet?

The candidate who has already enrolled themselves for Aadhar but hasn’t received it yet can apply with Aadhaar Enrollment ID. The Aadhaar Enrollment ID is a 14 digit number printed on your Aadhaar enrollment slip.

Facilitation Centers

The board has already set up the facilitation centers in every exam center city for the purpose of Aadhaar enrollment of the candidates. However, in case the Aadhar enrollment facility is not available at the facilitation centres, candidates can submit their request for the Aadhaar Enrollment.

After submitting the Aadhaar Enrollment request, the facilitation centers will provide the registration numbers to candidates. The candidates have to fill that registration no. in the application form.

Candidates from Assam, Jammu & Kashmir and Meghalaya

The Aadhar number is not mandatory for the candidates from Assam, Jammu & Kashmir and Meghalaya.  The aspirants from these states can apply using their passport number, bank account number, ration card number or any other government ID proof. Please note that the candidates from these states can select exam cities in these states only.

Here are some frequently asked questions by the JEE Main aspirants regarding the Aadhar Card

Question: My date of Birth is incorrect in Aadhaar Card. How can I apply for JEE Main?

Answer: You need to submit a request for correction at any Aadhaar center. After submitting the correction request you can apply for JEE Main simply by entering the Aadhar Enrollment ID/ UR number. Aadhar enrollment ID/ UR number is a 14 digit number printed on the slip issued by the Aadhaar center after submitting the request.

Question: How the candidates from outside India (NRI/ PIO/ OCI) will apply for JEE Main without an Aadhaar Number?

Answer: The candidate from outside India can apply by entering the passport details.

Questions: The name of Father/ Mother mentioned in the Aadhaar card is not matching with the School record

Answer: The Father or mother’s name is not matched with Aadhar card data. So, you should enter the correct names as per your school record.  You should also enter the address details (Present/permanent) correctly.

Questions: I am unable to apply from my updated Aadhar Details?

Answer: It might be possible that you have to face some problem in applying after updating your Aadhar Details. In such case, you can apply via Aadhaar Enrolment ID/UR No. issued by the Aadhar Center while submitting the request to update Aadhar.
